On a hot September afternoon in Salem, Providence battled hard against a driven and dynamic North Shore side. The home team put pressure on the visitors early, spending much of the first 20 inside the Providence 22. After a long defensive stand Providence was able to finally get some attack going which was capitalized with a try from former URI flyhalf Drew Phillips . North Shore responded well though getting two tries of their own dotted down after some crafty kicking and handling by their backs. With the score at 13-7 Providence needed a jolt before the half and that happened when another newcomer got in on the action, tighthead Peter White put the ball down in the corner with minutes left in the half. Second half saw Providence continue to get their attack moving through the pack. Strong subs helped the visitors begin to dominate scrums and put in two forward tries, one by Second Rower Jason Sayde and another by newcomer and Prop sub James McBride.
